Dr. Barbara Kamholz, MD

Dr. Barbara Kamholz completed her fellowship in geriatric psychiatry in 1989 at the University of Pennsylvania. She has worked with the elderly in all clinical settings, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, inpatient services, outpatient clinics, and in personal care in their homes.

She practiced in California for a number of years, and previously in Washington DC, Michigan, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Much of her career was spent in the Veterans' Administration Health System working with complex, seriously medically impaired and impoverished military veterans, so she is well acquainted with the complexity with which older persons often present.

She has been recognized internationally for her pioneering work in the field of delirium, a dangerous but little recognized condition afflicting many over the age of 60. Dr. Kamholz worked closely with Aging Solutions from 2017 through 2021, and she returns in 2026 to collaborate with an organization she trusts entirely to provide the most informed, ethical care for older people and their adult children in the Bay Area.
